Pile-Brace Foundation

The construction of offshore wind turbines requires engineers and project developers to be willing to explore new approaches. The pile-brace foundation takes particular account of the specific conditions of offshore wind energy use. It represents a variation of the tripod design.

The bracing framework is positioned above the design wave level and consists of lateral trusses, corner tubes connecting to the foundation piles, a central tube connecting to the tower shaft, and main braces that support the tower at the central node against wind loads.

A horizontal truss at the seabed level ensures spatial load-bearing behavior.

The bracing framework forms the substructure for all technical equipment.
